Mom of 4, married to HS sweetheart, Tom Archer, Hair designer, Drystone Mason. Born in Lex., KY, grew up in the Bluegrass to learn all aspects of farming; planting, harvesting, canning, freezing and processing our produce and family recipes preserved for decades-to the beauty business. My 4 sisters were into cosmetics and clothing. Dad made sure he had businesses to support the habits of cosmetics, clothing, and farming. The Gorman girls worked at Veda’s, Chevy Chase, est., 1956 by my Aunt Veda Eldridge. By 19, I knew all aspects of farming, cosmetics and clothing. I managed local cosmetic businesses from Lex., to PA for 20 years to include staging fashion shows for local malls. At 24, I purchased my own salon in Lex., the only Day Spa within 3 states, Paragon Day Spa. The Spa sold in 1991. In my spa years I brought our family preserved recipes back to life serving our clients regularly. A favorite was Howard’s Creek Authentic Beer Cheese. The original KY River Valley Delight, enjoyed around the Bluegrass from about 1940 until late1970’s. It’s BACK and is the 2009 award winning beer cheese that beat grandson of Johnny Allman, River Rat, KY Beer Cheese and over 25 other contestants.
